At least 42 shops were destroyed in two separate fire incidents in Pirojpur district last night and early this morning.

The first fire broke out around 11:15 pm at Panchpara Bazar in Sadar upazila, engulfing 11 shops, including grocery, jewelry, and book shops.

In a second incident, 31 shops at Miarhat Bazar in Nesarabad upazila were completely burned down around 6 am.

The fire at Miarhat Bazar reportedly started due to an electrical short circuit at one shop, which quickly spread to other establishments.

Firefighters from Nazirpur Fire Station responded promptly and managed to bring the blaze under control.

An official from the fire station stated that the cause of the fire and the total damage will be determined after further investigation.
