A devastating fire tore through a local market in Alfadanga upazila, Faridpur, on Tuesday night, destroying at least 10 shops. The blaze, which broke out around 11:30 pm at Bana Bazar, was believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit in one of the shops.

According to Aslam Hossain, the in-charge of Alfadanga Fire Service Station, the fire quickly spread to neighboring stores, including grocery, cosmetic, and restaurant outlets. Firefighters from the station rushed to the scene and were able to contain the flames after about 30 minutes of intensive effort.

Despite the quick response, the affected shopkeepers claimed significant losses, with damages estimated to be between Tk 25 to 30 lakh. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire and assess the full extent of the damage.
