20 shops destroyed in N’ganj furniture market fire

A fire broke out at a wooden furniture market in Narayanganj’s Siddhirganj upazila on Wednesday destroying at least 20 shops.


The fire started around 4am behind the Makkah Nagar Madrasa, according to locals who noticed the flames and alerted the fire service.

Two firefighting units managed to bring the blaze under control around 5:30am, said Md Jahangir Alam, station officer of Kanchpur Modern Fire Service, reports UNB.

The cause of the fire and the full extent of the damage are yet to be determined, he added.
