8 houses destroyed in fire at village in Sreenagar

At least eight houses were destroyed in a fire at Purbobezgaon village in Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj on Sunday night.


“The fire started around 9 pm at the house of Lima Akhter, reportedly from a gas cylinder explosion while pudding was being cooked,” said Sreenagar Fire Service Station Officer Dewan Azad Hossain.

Three Fire Service  units, with the help of locals, brought the blaze under control after two hours.

Furniture, gold ornaments and cash kept inside the houses were burnt.

The affected houses belonged to Badol Sheikh, Johurul, Nazrul, Akkas and his daughter Lima Akhter, reports UNB. 

Initial estimates suggest the damage could be of around Tk 1 crore.
