Three shops were gutted in a fire in the Raikhali area of Kaptai upazila in the district.

The fire broke out at around 3:30 am on Monday night at Majhipara Bottola adjacent to Raikhali Bazar, said Raikhali Union Parishad Chairman Mongky Marma.

He suspected that the blaze might have originated from a wood-fired stove of a tea stall.

Upon receiving information, a team of Chandraghona Police Station and firefighters of Rangunia Fire Service rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control at around 4:30 am along with local people.

Station Officer of Rangunia Fire Service Jasim Uddin also said the fire might have originated from the wood-fired stove of a tea stall.

The affected traders claimed that goods worth around Tk 10 to 12 lakh were burnt in the blaze, reports BSS.
