National Fisheries Day Celebration in Kalapara

Fisheries fortnight celebrated in Kalapara on Sunday 16 Aug 2026

Patuakhali: Keeping the theme “A self-reliant country in silver fisheries, Bangladesh first” in front, the National Fisheries Day was celebrated in Kalapara, Patuakhali.

On Sunday (August 16), at 11 am, a rally was taken out to release fish fry under the initiative of the Upazila Administration and Upazila Fisheries Department. The rally ended with a parade through the main roads of the municipal city. The national discussion meeting was held at the Upazila Darbar Hall.

Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Apu Saha presided over the program, and Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Yasin Sadek spoke as the chief guest. Upazila BNP President Haji Humayun Sikder, Municipal BNP General Secretary Musa Tauhid Nannu Munshi and others spoke as special guests.

Officials from various government departments, fishermen and fish farmers from various unions were present at the event.

At the end of the event, the chief guest and other guests distributed crests among the 3 best fish farmers of the upazila. - Gofran Palash
