Hilsa weighing 3.5kg caught in Kalapara.
Patuakhali: Due to the 65-day ban in the Bay of Bengal, fishermen are fishing with nets in coastal rivers. A hilsa fish weighing three and a half kilograms was caught in the Khaprabhanga river in the net of a fisherman named Afzal Majhi. Later it was sold at Alipur fishing port for Tk 8575.
On Friday (June 16) morning, businessman Ferdous Kazi bought the fish at the Alipore Fish Landing Center for the price of 8575 taka.
Buyer Ferdous said, such big fish are not always seen in this river. I think that because there are no fishermen in the sea at present, such big fish are coming to the river.
Kalapara Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Apu Saha said that the 65-day fishing ban in the sea is going on. As there are no fishermen in the sea, such big fish are entering the river through the sea estuary. - Gofran Biswas Palash
