22 days ban on catching, selling and transportation of the national fish will be ended Thursday midnight.

Fishermen are set to resume hilsa fishing as 22 days ban on catching, selling and transportation of the national fish will be ended Thursday midnight.

The fishermen are busy now for preparing nets and boats to go to the rivers for catching hilsa fish in different parts of the country.

Kalapara upazila senior fisheries officer Opu Saha said fishermen are preparing to go fishing in the sea. They can go to the sea from tonight.

Earlier on October 12, the government imposed a ban on catching, selling, hoarding, and transportation of Hilsa in the Bay of Bengal and different rivers for 22 days to boost Hilsa production through the protection of the mother fish during its peak breeding season.
