Pangas weighing 14 kg caught in Kuakata

Patuakhali: A fish weighing 13 kg 900 grams was caught in the hilsa net at Kuakata. On Monday (November 06) morning, Manik Miya, a  fisherman of Rangabali area, brought the fish to Kuakata to sell after catching the fish in the hilsa net.

Later, a fish trader named Anwar Hawladar bought the fish for 9 thousand 730 taka - 700 taka per kg.

Fisherman Manik Mia said, I got the fish in the hilsa net. I am very happy to get the fish because I got a lot of money for one fish. I brought it to Kuakata and sold it for Tk 10,000.

Buyer md. Anwar Howladar said, this pangas was caught in the hilsa net in the Bay of Bengal. The price of this fish was more. But due to nationwide blockade, this price is decreasing in the auction.

Kalapara Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Apu Saha said that in addition to the ban on fishing in the sea, the fisheries department is conducting regular operations in the river to increase hilsha production along with increasing fish reproduction. That's why along with Hilsa, many marine fish including pangas are now being helped to breed and grow. - Gofran Biswas Palash
