Fishermen worried about repaying loan installments for no hilsa catch

Patuakhali: Fishermen have returned to the port with fishing trawlers empty handed to save their lives as the sea became rough due to the adverse weather caused by low pressure. Apart from this, the fisher families of Patuakhali's largest fishing port, Alipur - Mahipur fishing port, are disappointed due to the lack of hilsa as expected in the deep sea. The fishermen of the coast are worried about the payment of loan installments. The owners of Alipur-Mahipur fishing harbor have suffered losses.

Meteorological office asked to display local warning signal number 3 at the port due to gale force over Payra sea port. Therefore, all fishing boats and trawlers operating in South Bay of Bengal and deep sea have been asked to remain in safe harbor till further orders.

Meanwhile, as the Bay of Bengal is rough, thousands of fishing trawlers are returning to Alipur-Mahipur fishing port for safe shelter. The Shib Bariya river is full of trawlers. Even when the boats returned to the ghat, Hilsa was not found.

Fishermen said that most of the year due to government restrictions, including bad weather, the fishing industry has collapsed. At the end of the siege hostile weather again. Besides, they demanded simultaneous blockade along with neighboring countries and government facilities and alternative employment for fishermen. 

Upazila Fisheries Officer Apu Saha said, compared to last season, there is a possibility of collecting more hilsa this year. Therefore, when the weather is favorable, the fishermen will once again go to the deep sea to hunt for hilsa.
