The death toll from floods, hill runoff and landslides in Bangladesh has risen to 54, while 39 others have been injured as the disaster continues to affect several districts, according to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.

The ministry said seven districts—Khagrachhari, Rangamati, Bandarban, Cox's Bazar, Chattogram, Moulvibazar and Habiganj—have been affected by the ongoing disaster.

Cox's Bazar recorded the highest number of fatalities with 31 deaths, followed by Chattogram with 13, Bandarban with six, Rangamati with three and Moulvibazar with one.

Among the 39 injured, 24 were reported in Cox's Bazar, 12 in Chattogram, two in Bandarban and one in Khagrachhari.

According to the latest situation report, the floods have affected 59 upazilas, 334 unions and 12 municipalities.

Authorities have opened 1,049 shelter centres across the affected districts, where 38,422 people have taken refuge as rescue and relief operations continue.

The government is continuing the distribution of relief materials and emergency assistance to people affected by floods, hill runoff and landslides.

Meanwhile, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain said the government has adopted the highest level of preparedness to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services in 11 flood-affected districts.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Secretariat on Monday, the minister said the leave of health workers in vulnerable districts has been cancelled to ensure uninterrupted medical care.

He said special healthcare services are now being provided in Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Bandarban, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Feni, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Chandpur, Cumilla and Brahmanbaria to meet the medical needs of affected communities.
