The overall flood situation is improving in Sylhet as water of major rivers has started receding.



The overall flood situation is improving in Sylhet as water of major rivers has started receding.
No rain was recorded in Sylhet from Saturday morning. The government and private organizations have continued relief distribution among the flood victims.
But the displaced people did not start returning homes following further improvements in the flood situation.
The water level of Surma declined 10cm at Kanaighat point and 2cm at Sylhet point from Friday evening to Saturday noon, according to the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center (FFWC) of the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB). The water level of Kushiyara has declined 5cm.
Thousands of fish farmers have lost their fish, while hundreds of farmers lost their crops in Sylhet.
Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Md Mujibur Rahman said about 36,088 people are staying at flood shelters.
