About 195 tons of green chilli was imported from India though Hili Land Port on Thursday and Friday.
Due to import, the skyrocketing price of the widely-used spice has already been cooled down in the local market. Local traders hope price of green chilli will reduce more.
During visit to Hili kitchen market, it was learnt that traders imported green chilli from India at Tk 120-Tk 130 per kg while it is being sold from Tk 145-Tk 150 per kg in wholesale market.
Harun ur Rashid, president of Hili Land Port Exporter-Importer Group, said local traders are importing green chilli from India to cool down the skyrocketing prices of the widely-used spice.
Traders and farmers said production of green chilli has fallen to some extent because of little rainfall in the chilli growing districts.
