Bangladesh Railway begins mango special train service

The West Zone of Bangladesh Railway is going to launch a ‘mango special train’ service on Chapainawabganj-Dhaka route via Rajshahi from Thursdayfor the fourth consecutive time.



The West Zone of Bangladesh Railway is going to launch a ‘mango special train’ service on Chapainawabganj-Dhaka route via Rajshahi from Thursdayfor the fourth consecutive time.

Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan will inaugurate the train service from Chapainawabganj station as the chief guest.

Divisional Manager of West Zone of Bangladesh Railway Shah Sufi Nur Mohammad confirmed the news.

“We have taken all sorts of preparations to launch the train from Thursday for transporting mango to Dhaka from this mango producing area for the benefit of the growers and traders,” he said.

One train will be operated for carrying mangoes to Dhaka every day from Chapainawabganj at 4:00pm.

The train will make a stoppage for loading mangoes at 11 stations on the Chapainawabgonj-Dhaka railway route via Rajshahi. The parcel train may have stoppages at other stations based on parcel booking and unloading.

The number of stations might be increased considering the number of pre-bookings. To transport mangoes, farmers will need to spend up to Tk 1.32 per kg.

This year, the date of launching the service was changed three times. Initially, it was announced that the train would start on May 25, but the authorities backtracked from the decision citing shortage of man
