27,863 needy families to receive VGF rice gift in Kalapara on Eid

VGF rice as Eid gift to needy families in Kalapara.

Patuakhali: 27,863 needy, helpless and extremely poor families in Kalapara of Patuakhali are receiving 278,630 metric tons of VGF rice on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. This rice will be distributed at the rate of 10 kg per head among the beneficiaries in two municipalities and 12 unions of the upazila between March 9 and March 11. Kalapara UNO Kausar Hamid has warned that no irregularities will be tolerated in the distribution of rice.

The source further said that a committee comprising the administrators of their respective municipalities and unions, two public representatives and two representatives nominated by the UNO has already completed the work of preparing the list of names of the beneficiaries of the VGF special allocation for Eid-ul-Fitr.

Upazila Project Implementation Officer Md. Mokchedul Alam said that the list of beneficiaries of the special allocation of VGF rice for Eid-ul-Fitr is in the final stage. This rice distribution program will be completed between March 9 and March 11.

Mokchedul Alam also said that this year, 200 families of the disabled, helpless and extremely poor will be provided with 10 kg of rice assistance from the upazila administration. In addition, 150 families affected by the disaster will be provided with food items including special allocation of rice, pulses and oil from the Ministry of Disaster and Relief.

Kalapara UNO Kausar Hamid said that the upazila administration is working to provide uninterrupted service to the common people. This time, the concerned have been instructed to properly manage the special allocation of VGF rice distribution program for the distressed for Eid-ul-Fitr.
