DHAKA - Bashundhara Kings retained title of the Women’s Football league with one match in hand crushing Jamalpur Kacharipara Akados by 18-0 goals in their penultimate match of the league held today at Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur.
Bashundhara needed only one point from their last two matches. The holders went to the field with high confidence that they would easily win against Jamalpur Kacharipara. That's why the team came to the field in preparation to celebrate the title.
After the final whistle, the players-officials of Bashundhara started cheering on the fiend with a champion written jersey.
The winners’ clearly dominated the proceeding by taking 7-0 lead at the breather while the remaining eleven goals came in the second half.
In the day’s match Krishna Rani Sarkar slammed a hat-trick with five goals while Shamsunnahar Jr. also scored a hat-trick with four goals.
Besides, Skipper Sabina Khatun scored hat-trick with three goals and Sanjida Akter struck twice while Monika Chakma, Anai Mogini and Sumaya Matsushima netted one goal each for Bashundhara while Kamrunnahar of Jamalpur Kacharipara scored a suicidal goal.
With the day’s victory, Jamalpur extended their lead to 39 points from 13 matches while Jamalpur Kacharipara remained at their previous credit of 13 points playing the same number of matches.
Bashundhara will play their last match of the league against Nasrin Sports Academy while Jamalpur Kacharipara meet Suddopuskorini Jubo Sporting Club scheduled to be held on Monday (July 19) at the same venue.BSS
