The Bangladesh Olympic football team was eliminated from the four-nation Diamond Jubilee Football Tournament after playing out a 1-1 draw with hosts Maldives at the National Stadium in Male on Sunday night.

Bangladesh needed a victory in their final group-stage match against Maldives to qualify for the final, but they failed to secure the required result.

As a result, the men in red and green finished third in the tournament with three points and were knocked out of the competition.

At the start of the tournament, Bangladesh earned praise for their disciplined defensive performances. Holding Pakistan to a draw despite being reduced to ten men and putting up a spirited fight against Afghanistan were among the team's notable achievements.

However, despite having an opportunity to clinch victory against the Maldives, Bangladesh conceded a late equaliser and had to settle for a draw, reports BSS.
