Independence Cup football begins tomorrow

Dhaka, 26 Oct -Independence Cup Football, the curtain riser of the domestic football season, will begin Friday with three matches are billed for the opening day at three separate venues across the country.

Former champions Dhaka Abahani Limited will start their campaign taking on Bangladesh Air Force in one of the three opening day's matches at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj.

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra will face Rahmatgang Muslim and Friends Society at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka while Bangladesh Police Football Club take on Brothers Union Club at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj in the other two opening day's matches.

All the three matches will kick off at 2.30 pm.

On the following day on (Saturday), Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited will face Bangladesh Army football team, while defending champions Bashundhara Kings meet Bangladesh Navy football team. Both the matches will be held at Bashundhara Kings Arena in the city.

Thirteen teams, ten teams from the Premier Division League and three teams from the qualifying round, split into four groups, will compete in the meet to be held at three different venues across the country.
Of the tournament's fifteen group matches, eight matches will be held at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka, three matches in Gopalganj and the rest four matches will be held in Munshiganj.

Grouping;

Group A- Bangladesh Police Football Club, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Brothers Union Club Limited.
Group B- Dhaka Abahani Limited, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited, Rahmatganj Muslim and Friend Society and Bangladesh Air Force Football Team.

Group C- Mohammedan Sporting Club, Forties Football Club and Bangladesh Army Football Team.

Group D - Bashundhara Kings, Chittagong Abahani Limited and Bangladesh Navy Football Team.
