Rajshahi, 31 Oct- Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman National Gold Cup Football Tournament (Boys Under-17) and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib National Gold Cup Football Tournament (Girls Under-17)- 2023 ended here this evening.
The Divisional Administration and the District Sports Office jointly hosted the four-day tournament at Liberation War Memorial Stadium.
A total of 18 teams, nine each for the boys and girls respectively, took part in the two tournaments.
Additional Divisional Commissioner Jasim Uddin Haider, Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police Faisal Mahmud, Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Hemayetul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Anisul Islam and District Sports Education Officer Jahangir Hossain attended the closing ceremony.
They also distributed trophies among the champion and runner-up teams before a large number of football players, fans and others concerned.
Rajshahi City Corporation clinched the championship in the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman National Gold Cup Football Tournament (Boys Under-17).
Rajshahi district team bagged the championship trophy of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib National Gold Cup Football Tournament (Girls Under-17).
Speaking on the occasion, Jasim Uddin Haider said more talented football players are expected to come out from the tournament and they will play in national teams.
He added that the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been implementing diversified programmes to elevate the country's sports sector.
