Bashundhara Kings emerge group champions

Dhaka, 1 Dec -Bashundhara Kings emerged as group champions after playing out to a goalless draw with Chittagong Abahani Limited in the ultimate group D match of Independence Cup Football that resumed Friday after a twenty-six day break.

Held at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj, Bashundhara Kings had no difficulty in becoming champions of Group D. They are top of the group with four points from two matches. Chittagong Abahani finished group runners-up with two points after securing two points from their two group matches. Bangladesh Navy finished third in Group D.

In the proceeding, Bashundhara Kings got several scoring chances but failed to convert any lack of proper finishing.

Bashundhara will play Bangladesh Army Football Club in the fourth quarter final on Dec 5 at their home venue Bashundhara Kings Arena. Group runners-up Chittagong Abahani will also play their quarterfinal match against Mohammedan Sporting Club on the same day at Bir Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.
