National Gold Cup Football inaugurated in Meherpur
Meherpur, 21 Jan - National Gold Cup Football tournament (U-17 boys’ and girls’) has been inaugurated in Meherpur district on the occasion of Festival of Youth at the District Stadium on Tuesday.
Meherpur deputy commissioner Sifat Mehnaz formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest, presided over by additional deputy commissioner (Education OICT) Md Rony Alam Noor.
Superintendent of police Maksuda Akhter Khanam (PPM), Sadar upazila executive officer Khairul Islam, Gangni upazila executive officer Pritam Saha, district education officer Md Hazrat Ali, Gopalnagar Secondary Girls School Principal Zahirul Islam, district environment directorate assistant director Md Mozaffar Khan, among others, were present in the opening ceremony, organized by Ministry of Youth and Sports under the implementation of the district administration and district sports office.
In the opening boys’ group match, Gangni Upazila XI team beat Mujibnagar Upazila XI team by 1-0 goal while in the girls’ group Mujibnagar upazila XI team defeated Gangni upazila XI team by 2-0 goals.BSS
