National-level primary school football tournament kicks off tomorrow

Dhaka, 21 Feb  - The national level competition of the Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament will start at the Mirpur National Bangla High School ground tomorrow.

Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Abu Taher Md Masud Rana will inaugurate the tournament, said a release this evening.

A total of 16 teams - eight for boys and eight for girls – champions of eight divisions across the country - will participate in the national level tournament.

The group, semi-finals and third place play-off will be held on February 22, 23, 24 and 25. Besides, the final game of the boys and girls teams will be held at the National Stadium, Dhaka, on February 27.

The participating teams at the national level (girls’ group)  are: Trepiganj Government Primary School under Debiganj Upazila in Panchagarh District, of Rangpur Division, Jorgachha Government Primary School under Santhia Upazila in Pabna District of Rajshahi Division, Doharo Government Primary School under Shailkupa Upazila in Jhenaidah District of Khulna Division, Tholanarpar Government Primary School under Maksudpur Upazila in Gopalganj District of Dhaka Division, TTDC Government Primary School under Mehendiganj Upazila in Barisal District of Barisal Division,  37 No Shahjalal Government Primary School under Jaintapur Upazila in Sylhet District of Sylhet Division, Bancharampur Model Government Primary School under Bancharampur Upazila in Brahmanbaria District of Chattogram Division, Ishwarganj Government Primary School under Ishwarganj Upazila in Mymensingh District of Mymensingh Division.


In the boys' group, Kurigram Government Primary School under Kurigram Sadar in Rangpur Division, Shiroil Colony Government Primary School under Boalia in Rajshahi District of Rajshahi Division, Dewara Anta Bunia Government Primary School under Koyra Upazila in Khulna District of Khulna Division, Matikata Government Primary School under Bhuapur Upazila in Tangail District under Dhaka Division, Bankerhat Government Primary School under Bhola Sadar in Barisal Division, Ichchaghari Government Primary School under Sunamganj Sadar in Sylhet Division, Koyarbil Government Primary School under Kutubdia Upazila in Cox's Bazar District of Chittagong Division, Trishal Government Primary School under Trishal Upazila in Mymensingh District of Mymensingh Division.

Boys and girls teams from 65,354 government primary schools across the country have participated in this tournament. bss
