Bangladesh have climbed their biggest 24 steps in the latest FIFA women’s ranking moving from 128th to 104th following their historic qualification for the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup for the first time ever.

The Peter Butler side now secured 1179.87 ranking points, reflecting much bigger welcome progress as the South Asian team as they aim for stronger performance in continental football. Bangladesh also bagged the most points (+80.51) in the FIFA ranking update.
Bangladesh has recently played against higher ranked teams and their consistency of getting points against big teams continued in the Asian Women's Cup qualifiers as well.

Bangladesh emerged group champions their AFC Women's Asian Cup Asian qualification with wins over hosts Myanmar, Bahrain and Turkmenistan.

Meanwhile, Spain, the runner-up at this year's Women's Euro, has reclaimed the top position in the new rankings while United States, which was at the top of the previous rankings, has slipped to second spot, reports BSS.
