The victory, achieved in a packed stadium in the capital, marks Bangladesh's first competitive win over India in 22 years.
In a message issued by his press wing at noon, Prof Yunus said the triumph had uplifted the spirit of millions. "This is not just a victory in a football match; rather, it is an inspiration for young people who see sports as a source of positive energy," he said.
"Sports play an important role in nation building. This victory against a strong opponent India is a significant step forward in this regard," he added.
The Chief Adviser expressed hope that this victory will help bring back the glory days of Bangladesh football, reports BSS.
"Since taking office in 2024, the interim government has been providing support to football," he said, saying that future governments will continue this trend.
