Stuttgart city center is decorated for Christmas. But it remains mostly empty

Harder lockdown paralyses daily life in Germany

Monowara Begum Moni
The Stuttgart Rail Stations remain always full of passengers on and off. Now they are empty due to lockdown imposed by the government.
However, the COVID ‘mutation’ from the UK made everyday life in Germany even more difficult.

This situation arose from the government because of the tougher measures of Lockdown on the one side and the fear of Corona mutation in UK on the other.
Deutsche Welle reports, EU countries have clamped down on UK travel over new coronavirus strain. Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Romania and Ireland have banned all passenger flights from the UK
German virologist Christian Drosten says that new data ‘does not look good’. But he said Germany’s restrictions will help the situation. British mutated coronavirus causes uncertainty in Germany.
Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn (CDU) is self critical and admits errors in the corona crisis management. The Germans have lost their trust in the government.
According to the RKI, (Robert Koch-Institute), the health authorities in Germany counted 19,528 new infections on 22.12.2020. At the same time, 729 new deaths were reported, and 21,104 additional Covid 19 patients were recorded by the RKI as having recovered.
This is today’s (24.12.2020) reported coronavirus situation in the federal states.
