Israeli airstrikes across eastern and southern Lebanon on Saturday killed at least 33 people, according to Lebanon's Health Ministry, as Israel ramped up its offensive against Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group.

The ministry reported that 20 people were killed in the Baalbek-Hermel region in the east, including 11 in Knaissseh, a Hezbollah stronghold. Another 14 people were injured in these strikes. In the south, 13 people died, including seven rescue workers linked to Hezbollah and its Shiite ally, Amal.

In the southern village of Hanouiyeh, five people were killed, while six Amal-linked rescuers and one member of the Hezbollah-affiliated Islamic Health Committee died in a separate strike on Deir Qanun.

Israeli officials confirmed that their airstrikes targeted Hezbollah's infrastructure in Baalbek and Tyre, claiming to hit "terrorists, operational apartments, and weapons storage facilities."

The toll continued to rise following a deadly Israeli attack on the southern city of Tyre on Friday, which killed seven—including two children—and injured 46. The Lebanese Health Ministry added that rescuers were still searching through the rubble for missing persons. The NNA reported that the strikes severely damaged three buildings, leaving debris and wreckage scattered across the city.

On Saturday, Hezbollah retaliated with rocket and missile fire at Israel's northern regions, targeting Israeli military positions and shooting down an Israeli Hermes 450 drone.

The conflict, which escalated sharply after Hezbollah's involvement in the war between Israel and Hamas, has claimed over 3,110 lives in Lebanon since September 23, with at least 2,700 fatalities occurring since that date. Israel's military offensive on Lebanon began intensifying on September 23, with ground troops deployed a week later.
