BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir left for Singapore on Sunday night for medical treatment. He boarded a Singapore Airlines flight from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at approximately 11:55 pm, according to his personal assistant, M Yunus Ali.

Fakhrul is expected to undergo treatment for multiple health issues, including a blockage in his neck, Yunus said. “He will consult two specialist doctors in Singapore, and appointments with them have already been arranged.”

The BNP leader is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on September 7.

This marks Fakhrul's second trip to Singapore this year for medical reasons. Earlier, he traveled to the country on March 4 and spent 19 days receiving treatment.

After being released from prison on February 15, Fakhrul initially received medical care at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital. Due to his fragile health, he later traveled to Singapore for further treatment.

Mirza Fakhrul's health issues began in 2015, when an internal carotid artery problem was diagnosed during his imprisonment in a political case. Since his release, he has visited Singapore annually for follow-up treatments.
