The first group of Bangladeshi patients is set to depart for China on Monday, marking a significant step in enhancing bilateral medical cooperation between the two countries.

The initial batch, comprising 11 patients, will leave from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on March 10. Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yao Wen, will brief the media at 12 p.m. at the CIP outdoor pathway of the airport before their departure. Senior government officials, along with representatives from the patients, doctors, and travel agencies, will also be present.

In February, Ambassador Yao announced that three top-tier hospitals in China's Yunnan Province had been designated to specifically accommodate Bangladeshi patients. He emphasized that efforts were underway to streamline medical services, including simplifying visa procedures, clarifying treatment processes, and establishing translation teams to assist patients.

During a recent visit to China, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain proposed strengthening bilateral cooperation in public health and requested China’s support in facilitating medical treatment for Bangladeshi patients. Ambassador Yao responded by assuring that China would provide high-quality medical services to patients from Bangladesh.

With the launch of this program, both countries aim to improve healthcare mechanisms and further solidify their cooperation in the medical sector.
