UNHR Office to Launch Report on BD's July Uprising on Wednesday

The UN Human Rights Office has announced that it will release its fact-finding report on human rights violations during the student-led July uprising in Bangladesh on Wednesday, 12 February, instead of the previously scheduled date of Thursday.


According to a media advisory received today, the UN will hold a news conference at the Palais des Nations in Geneva at 09:30 local time (14:30 Dhaka time) to unveil the OHCHR Fact-Finding Report: Human Rights Violations and Abuses Related to the Protests of July and August 2024 in Bangladesh.

High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, will deliver the opening remarks at the briefing, with Rory Mungoven, Chief of the Asia-Pacific Section, and Ravina Shamdasani, Chief Spokesperson, also joining the panel.

The event will be broadcast live on UN Web TV for those who wish to listen online. Both the full report and a news release will be made available to the public before the news conference.
