Gazipur, Nov 13 - Traffic came to a halt for about an hour on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway after workers of a readymade garment factory blocked the road demanding overdue wages in Tongi on Wednesday morning, said police.

Mosharaff Hossain, assistant superintendent of industrial police in Gazipur, said the workers of the Taratex Fashion Limited put a barricade on the highway around 9am to press home their demand, causing tailbacks on both sides of the highway.

Traffic movement resumed after law enforcers including army personnel rushed to the spot and drove away the agitators from the road, he added.

The factory has around 2, 000 workers.-UNB
