Payra Port officials, staff on strike for 9th pay scale
Officers and employees of Payra Port who are on strike for 9th pay scale staged a demonstration in Kalapara.
Patuakhali: Payra Port Authority officials and employees have held a sit-in, strike and protest program demanding the issuance of the 9th pay scale gazette. The program was organized by the Payra Port Authority Employees Union of Kalapara Upazila of Patuakhali at 11 am on Monday at the main gate of the port. The port's administrative activities were closed for 2 hours. Earlier, the employees held the same program at the same time yesterday.
Payra Port Medical Office Assistant Tapsi Das, Inland Master Abdul Quader, Sheikhul Arefin and Accounting Assistant Shafiqul Islam spoke at the time.
The speakers said that although the price of goods has increased several times in the last 15 years, their salaries and allowances have not increased. Therefore, the employees gave an ultimatum not to vote and to follow a stricter program if their demands are not met. - Gofran Palash
