GENEVA, June 22, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - Myanmar's military was responsible for more than 700 civilian deaths over the six-month election period in the country from last August through January, the United Nations said Monday.

"Credible sources reported to have verified a minimum of 702 civilian deaths across the country during the reporting period," a report by the UN rights office said, with spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani telling AFP that the deaths were all "attributable to the Myanmar military".
