Bangladesh Air Force transport aircraft carrying 11.227 metric tons of relief materials departed for Kabul early Friday morning under the directive of the Chief Adviser.
Bangladesh has dispatched emergency humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan following the devastating earthquake that struck the country’s eastern region on 31 August, killing more than 2,200 people and injuring over 3,600 others.
The quake also destroyed more than 8,000 homes, plunging thousands into a dire humanitarian crisis.
In response, a Bangladesh Air Force transport aircraft left for Kabul early Friday morning carrying 11.227 metric tons of relief supplies under the directive of the Chief Adviser.
The consignment includes tents, blankets, winter clothing, bottled water, dry food, powdered milk, noodles, clothes, and essential medicines. The aid is intended to ease the suffering of survivors, with the aircraft scheduled to return the same day after completing the handover.
Before departure, Director General of Operations and Planning at the Armed Forces Division, Brigadier General Md Alimul Amin, briefed officials from the Armed Forces Division, Air Force, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the mission.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the Bangladesh Armed Forces remain committed to extending humanitarian support whenever required, expressing hope that the relief will provide meaningful assistance to Afghan quake victims.
