US President Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he intends to halt migration from what he described as “Third World countries,” following an incident in which an Afghan national allegedly shot two National Guard soldiers in Washington.

In a social media post, Trump announced, “I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover.”

He also threatened to overturn “millions” of admissions approved under former President Joe Biden and pledged to remove “anyone who is not a net asset to the United States.”

Trump said he would end all federal benefits and subsidies for non-US citizens and deport any foreign national deemed a security risk or “non-compatible with Western Civilization.”

The sharply worded message, which ended with a Thanksgiving greeting, reflected an escalation of the anti-migration agenda shaping his second term, now centred on a mass deportation drive.

“These goals will be pursued with the aim of achieving a major reduction in illegal and disruptive populations,” he said, adding that “only reverse migration can fully cure this situation.”
