Poetry Evening at Alliance Française de Dhaka marks the launch of “Bishakto Modhu (Poisoned Honey)” by Mohammad Anowar Hossain
On the evening of 14 November 2025, the Auditorium Nouvelle Vague at Alliance Française de Dhaka hosted the launch of “Bishakto Modhu (Poisoned Honey)”, a new poetry collection by Bangladeshi poet, novelist, and storyteller Mohammad Anowar Hossain.
“My poetry reflects the tenderness and ache of human love — where affection and heartbreak coexist with quiet beauty,” Mohammad Anowar Hossain said.
Written between 2022 and 2025, 'Bishakto Modhu' brings together fifty poems that explore the transformation of love — from sweetness to pain, from nectar to venom — reminding readers that even heartbreak can sometimes taste as gentle as honey.
This is Anowar’s second poetry collection, following Serotonin (2022), his novel 'Valobashar Shohore Sritir Karagare' (2023), and his short story collection 'Synthetic Coffee'(2025).
The evening featured poetry recitations and live music, with performances by Avra Bhattacharjee, Amena Khatun Moni, Rahman Emon, and Lipika Taposhi, alongside singers Sumon Mohammad Hafij, Kabyasree Roy Chowdhury, and Lipika Taposhi.
Published by Anowar Stories, the book is dedicated to “the silent hearts who loved without being loved back.”
Printed copies are available at Rokomari, Baatighar Online, Baatighar Bookstores, and the Anowar Stories Facebook Page.
The launch evening blended poetry, music, and emotion — leaving the audience in a hush of reflection and warmth, much like the lingering aftertaste of the book’s title itself — Poisoned Honey. – Press release
