BCS General Education Association announced to go for work abstention for a day on October 2.

BCS General Education Association announced to go for work abstention for a day on October 2, citing discrimination in education cadre services.
BCS General Education Association issued a statement on Sunday (September 24) in this regard.
The teachers will observe work abstention on that day. However, if there is no visible progress regarding their demands, then a three-day strike will be observed on October 10, 11 and 12.
The statement said, that despite of Prime Minister's orders, the creation of supernumerary posts, promotion of all eligible officers, promotion of professors to third grade, and earned leave issues are still not resolved yet.
“The Education Minister, and Education Deputy Minister assured us that our demand will be fulfilled but that is not being implemented yet. The promotion is suspended for two years. At present, there are about 7000 officers eligible for promotion at various levels of the education cadre. For a long time, we have been demanding the removal of non-educational cadres from the scheduled posts of the education cadre but that has not been done. We consider these activities as hindering the development progress of the government,” it reads.
