The namaz-e-janaza was held around 10.00am. Earlier the heroic freedom fighter was given a guard of honor.
Another janaza will be held in Gaibandha at 3.00pm. The 76-year-old valiant freedom fighter will be laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard at Gatia village under Shaghata upazila of the district.

He was born on April 15, 1946 at Gatia village under Saghata upazila in Gaibandha, and was the founding secretary of Gaibandha Law College from 1979-86.
He was elected to parliament as an Awami League candidate for the seventh time from the Gaibandha-5 seat (Phulchhari-Saghata) in the 2018 national polls.
The valiant freedom fighter fought against the Pakistan Army in Sector 11 during the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.
Rabbi, also Parliament Member of Gaibandha-5 constituency, was suffering from incurable cancer. He was under treatment in New York for 9 months.
Rabbi also served as the State Minister of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Whip of the National Parliament, Chairman of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
