New Qatar rule gives greater worker safety from heat stress

A Ministerial Declaration was announced on 26 May 2021 introducing a significant expansion of summertime working hours wherein outdoor work is prohibited.
Under the new rules which come into force immediately, workers cannot work outside between 10 AM and 3:30 PM from 01 June to 15 September. This replaces the legislation from 2007 that prohibited work in outdoor workspaces from 11:30 AM to 3 PM from 15 June to 31 August.

The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) also released FAQs for Workers, FAQs for Employers, and a guide for employers.
The FAQs for workers will soon be available in Hindi, Malayalam, Nepali, Bangla, and Swahili. Video animations will also be made available for both workers and employers in multiple languages.
