23 Abducted Bangladeshis Rescued in Libya
A total of 23 Bangladeshi nationals, who were abducted in Libya, have been successfully rescued following a targeted operation by Libyan security forces.
According to the Bangladesh Embassy in Libya, local authorities raided the Misrata area and freed the captives. The operation came after a thorough investigation led by Libya’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) into reports of foreign nationals being kidnapped and subjected to torture for ransom in the Al-Ghairan police station area of Misrata.
During the raid, two individuals were arrested in connection with the abductions. The suspects are now in custody, and both the freed Bangladeshis and the detainees have been transferred to the Al-Ghairan Police Station for further legal proceedings.
The Bangladesh Embassy expressed its sincere appreciation to the Libyan authorities for their prompt and efficient action in resolving the matter. Embassy officials are working closely with local authorities to ensure that the necessary legal and consular support is provided to the rescued nationals as they continue their journey back home.
