Army chief returns home after 3-day India visit

Dhaka, April 30 --Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed returned to Dhaka on Sunday from his three-day official visit to India, according to an Inter Services Public Relation Directorate (ISPR) press release.

During the visit, Gen. Shafiuddin took the parade salute after attending the passing out parade of commissioned officers at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai.

He also met the chiefs of army, navy, air force, chief of defense staff, defense secretary, foreign secretary and other high officials concerned, according to the press release.

Gen. Shafiuddin discussed the development of bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries.

He also visited the important establishments of the Indian Army.

"It is expected that the friendly relations between the armies of the two countries will be strengthened through the Army chief's visit," added the release. - UNB
