Patuakhali: Banauja Sher-e-Bangla, a base with modern facilities for the young sailors of the Bangladesh Navy, has officially started operations.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the base through a video conference from Ganabhavan on Wednesday afternoon. At this time, 4 patrol craft squadrons and 4 war ships were inaugurated. In the inaugural ceremony, the Prime Minister wished the future success of the Navy.
Patrol craft squadrons built by Khulna Shipyard Limited are Shaheed Daulat, Shaheed Farid, Shaheed Mohibbullah, Shaheed Akhtar Uddin. And 4 Landing Craft Utilities (LCU) are Banauja Dolphin, Whale, Tuna and Penguin. These ships will officially start operational activities after the Prime Minister's commissioning. With the inclusion of these ships in the naval fleet, the security of the sea and coastal areas of the southern region will be strengthened.
