Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman returned to Bangladesh last night following his participation in the 14th Indo-Pacific Army Chiefs Conference (IPACC) 2025 held in Malaysia from 23 to 26 September.

The conference brought together army chiefs from across the Indo-Pacific region to exchange views on strengthening military cooperation, fostering friendship, addressing shared challenges, and coordinating responses to regional crises.

At the event, General Waker-Uz-Zaman stressed the importance of partnership and collaboration over competition to tackle the multifaceted security challenges facing the Indo-Pacific region. He reaffirmed the Bangladesh Army’s commitment to promoting regional peace and stability through a humanitarian approach, professionalism, and constructive engagement.

During his visit, the Army Chief also held courtesy meetings with the Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific Command, Ronald Patrick Clark, and the Chief of the Malaysian Army, General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Bin Jantan. Discussions focused on modernisation and capacity building of the Bangladesh Army, professional training and development, technology transfer in defence production, the repatriation of Rohingya refugees, regional and global security cooperation, and the prospects of joint military training exercises.

General Waker-Uz-Zaman had departed for Malaysia on 22 September on an official visit. His participation underscored Bangladesh’s ongoing commitment to strengthening military diplomacy and collaboration in the Indo-Pacific region, while addressing both national and regional security priorities.
