The film, a cross-cultural romance directed by Tushar Jalota, earned Rs 2.85 crore on Wednesday after a strong weekend. It had opened with Rs 7.25 crore on Friday, followed by Rs 9.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 10.25 crore on Sunday, according to Sacnilk.
While the weekday dip slowed its pace, Param Sundari remains on track to surpass the earnings of Sidharth’s previous theatrical release Yodha (Rs 35.74 crore) and Thank God (Rs 36.35 crore). Janhvi’s last outing Ulajh had collected Rs 11.05 crore.
The film has drawn comparisons with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s Chennai Express. Addressing the criticism, Janhvi said, “I am from Kerala in the film, and not all people from the South can be grouped together. These kinds of films aren’t being released every year. Chennai Express was an iconic film, with iconic characters and actors.”
Produced by Maddock Films, Param Sundari tells the story of a romance between a man from Delhi and a woman from Kerala. Alongside Sidharth and Janhvi, it features Rajeev Khandelwal and Aakash Dahiya in pivotal roles, reports UNB.
