EC ready to announce poll schedule
Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal and four election commissioners will call on President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Thursday.
The Election Commission (EC) completed all the preparations for the upcoming 12th parliamentary elections. The election schedule will be announced next week.
Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal and four election commissioners will call on President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Thursday noon (November 9) before announcing the schedule.
EC secretary Jahangir Alam on Wednesday told reporters that according to rules, the Election Commission meets the President before announcing polls schedule. The President will be informed about the progress of the election. If there is any advice and direction from the president, the commission will take note.
The country’s prevailing atmosphere is still conducive to announce the schedule for the 12th parliamentary election, he said.
The United States will send delegations to observe the upcoming elections, the EC secretary added.
