January 7 declared as general holiday

Following the guideline of the Election Commission, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Thursday



The government has declared January 7 as a general holiday on occasion of the 12th general election.

Following the guideline of the Election Commission, the Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Thursday (December 28).

According to the notification, all government, semi-government, autonomous and private organizations and all educational institutions will remain closed on January 7 in a bid to facilitate the exercise of voting rights for working people.

Earlier on December 24, the Election Commission requested the Public Administration Ministry to declare January 7 as a general holiday.
