BD Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) election Friday

Election of the pro-opposition Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) is being held on Friday at the National Press Club Dhaka. Councillors from different journalist from across Bangladesh with cast their votes after an annual general meeting to be held in the morning.

Candidates from two panels plus some independents are contesting the biennial election. One panel is led by sitting president and secretary general of BFUJ, M Abdullah and Nurul Amin Rokon. Former president of BFUJ, Ruhul Amin Gazi and former president of DUJ (Dhaka Union of Journalists), Kader Gani Chowdhury are leading another panel and contesting for the posts of president and secretary general respectively.

Other candidates in the Gazi-Gani Parishad are: Vice-Presidents – AKM Mohsin, Obaidur Rahman Shaheen and Muhammad Khairul Bashar; Assistant Secretaries General – Basir Jamal, Ehteshamul Huq Shaon and Dr. Sadequl Islam Swapan; Treasurer – Shahidul Islam; Organising Secretary – Erfanul Huq Nahid; Office Secretary – Md. Abu Bakar; Publicity Secretary – Md. Shahjahan Saju and Executive Members – Md Modabber Hossain, Shaheen Hasnat, M. Hamidul Huq Manik, Mirza Selim Reza, Abdur Razzak Bacchu, Aparna Roy and  Muhammad Abu Hanif.

Other candidates of the Abdullah-Rokan Parishad are: Vice-Presidents – Mahmud Hasan, Md.Rashidul Islam ansd Shamsuddin Harun; Assistant Secretaries General – Ziaur Rahman Madhu, Liton Ershad and Mohammad Shah Alam Shafi; Treasurer – Abdur Selim; Organising Secretary – Rafiq Hasan; Office Secretary Md. Zakir Hossain; Publicity Secretary – Belayer Hossain; and Executive emmebrs – Ahmed Matiur Rahman, M. R. Mahbub, Asaduzzaman Asad, Zahid Iqbal, Md. Abdul Halim, Mortuza Sayed Tisu and  Md. Shafiqul Islam Saddam.
