Nation-wide heat wave alert: school vacation extended till April 27

The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has decided to keep all the government primary schools closed for another sevendays due to the nation-wide heat wave alert announced by the Meteorological Department yesterday.

As a result, all government primary schools, Shishu Kalyan Trust schools andnon-formal education bureau learning centers will remain closed from April 21 to April 27.
The ministry has extended the vacation in consideration of the health and safety of students, teachers and guardians during the ongoing heat wave, according to a notification released here today by the Ministry of Primaryand Mass Education.
Schools and colleges across the country were scheduled to open tomorrow after the holy Ramadan, Independence Day and Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
Earlier on Friday, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department issued a heatwave warning for 72 hours, stating that the on going heat wave is expected to continue in most parts of the country, reports BSS.
Due to the intensity of the heat and high humidity during this period, discomfort might increase, the bulletin added.
