Remittances clock $2.11 billion in 28 days of September

Dhaka, Sept 29 - The flow of inward remittances continued on its upward trend under the interim government, topping $2 billion for the second consecutive month in September, with two days still left to count.

Expatriates sent $2.11 billion in the first 28 days of this month, with an average of $75.5 million remittances sent in every day.

Analysis of the data shows that the amount of remittances received in the 28 days of September was about $780 million more than the entire month of September last year. In September 2023, remittances volume was $1.33 billion, one of the lowest amounts in recent years.

Bangladesh Bank's (BB) latest data released on Sunday showed this scenario of remittance. In August, the expatriates sent $ 2.07 billion remittance. It shows a growth of remittance in September.

Earlier, the inward remittances flow in July was $1.91 billion after $2.53 billion in June. The July figure year was the lowest for 10 months.

The foreign exchange reserves stayed over $20 billion.

In the fiscal year 2023-24, Bangladeshi expatriates sent remittances of $23.92 billion, the second-highest collection ever. The expatriates sent the highest $24.77 billion remittance in the FY2020-21.-UNB
