A new waiting lounge for passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka will officially open on Thursday evening. The lounge is set to be inaugurated by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, who is expected to attend the ceremony upon his return from the COP29 climate summit, according to a media release issued by Mahbubur Rahman Tuhin, Senior Information Officer of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.

This new facility is the result of a joint initiative by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) and the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. Located on the first floor of the airport's multi-level car park, the lounge offers a spacious, modern environment for travelers.

The new waiting area is designed with passenger comfort in mind and will feature several amenities, including designated waiting zones, a baby-care room, separate prayer rooms for men and women, and an affordable cafeteria. Special emphasis has been placed on providing a welcoming space for expatriate Bangladeshis and their families, offering them a comfortable experience during their time at the airport.
