State Mourning Declared for Adviser Hassan Ariff on Monday

The government has declared a day of national mourning on Monday, December 23, to honor AF Hassan Ariff, Adviser to the Ministries of Land and Civil Aviation and Tourism, who passed away on Friday, December 20.


The announcement was made through a gazette notification on Sunday.

As part of the observance, the national flag will be flown at half-mast at all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, educational establishments, and both public and private buildings across the country. Bangladesh's diplomatic missions abroad will also observe the gesture.

Special prayers will be held at mosques nationwide, seeking peace for his soul. Other religious institutions will organize prayers and rituals according to their respective traditions.

Hassan Ariff, 85, passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka. His death is deeply mourned, marking the loss of a dedicated public servant.
